Zero was one of the three X6 that robbed a Quickie Mart for food after they escaped the inferno that was the Manticore Seattle facility. They hid in a barn together with an X7 where Alec McDowell found them after retreating from the same location.
He received his name from Max Guevara since she did not appreciate his attitude and wanted to hear "Zero" from him.
